Fantastic location, but somehow the view is not there. Food is okay, but very expensive.

Quite average. The tables need to be updated, the look of the shop is a bit of a turn off. The food is average. They forgot our oysters so we had to keep reminded them to bring them out to us. Food is a bit expensive. The icecream tasted old. A good try but won't come back

Food was very good. Oysters exceptional. Extremely quiet for a Thursday night. Total of 8 diners. Decor has not changed in 30 years. Very tired looking. Needs a revamp. Used to be a popular restaurant

Went there with the whole family last week and don’t know what all the bad reviews are for. The staff were enormously polite and the seafood we all had was delicious. I had super fresh whiting fillets and lovely grilled octopus. Give these guys a shot as they deserve it. Would be more than grateful to go back.

This was the worst fish and chips ever 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Came here for my birthday hoping to have an amazing dinner. It was served extremely quickly so think it was probably preheated already cooked fish which was soggy and crunchy and the chips were pretty bad too! This ended up giving me the worst stomachache!! Do not recommend this place at all! Whoever owns this place you need to do something about it as it was probably my worst meal I have ever had!

The 1 staff made us feel like I owed him something. Food was good even though my grandchildren could of made it look better.
Hasn't had a renovation since probably 1980.
Toilets look like sporting blocks from the 70s
But again the food was good but not worth it
Overall you could cook at home for atleast half.the price. and be happier.

Feels like a guest in one of kitchen nightmare episode. The only edible food out of 4 items is garlic bread.

Average food and pathetic service.
My boyfriend and I drove an hour to come and have lunch here today and we were far from impressed. I think the staff may have noticed that we weren’t locals or something (I’m a woman of colour, my boyfriend has light skin and has some visible tattoos). Every other person in the restaurant was served kindly by the waiters, and it was highly noticeable. We both received a very unwelcoming and pretentious attitude from the waiters, particularly the main one (he looked older in age and I mistakenly forgot to get his name). We were even placed on a table far away from everyone in restaurant, and closest to the exit door. The cushions on the seat were also very dirty.
My boyfriend asked for the chequebook at the end and the waiter slammed it on the table without even looking or saying anything to him, and walked off. They didn’t even bother asking us if the food was okay, but preceded to laugh and chat with the other customers at other tables. I found his behaviour very disrespectful and could not wait to leave.
My partner and I have been to countless fine-dining restaurants together, but this was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had and the food did not make up for it. It’s unfortunate that I can’t rate this place with zero stars because quite frankly, that’s what it deserves.
If a staff member from that restaurant has the decency to read this post: I strongly advise you to learn how to treat ALL your customers with the kind of respect that you would expect to receive from others. Never look down on your customers based on the way they look, they probably have enough money in the bank to buy out your entire business.

Nice outdoor eating area. Reasonably priced seafood after spending time at the beach. AMEX accepted.

I had a great experience at Danny's. Not sure why the rating for this place is so low? I thought everything was great, considering the location (ocean view) and the price!
For around $10, you can get fish and chips and salad! and it's a big portion AND you have ocean view! This is an unbeatable price. Sure, it wasn't the BEST fish and chips I've had in my life, but taking into account the location, views, and price, I'll give Dannys a 5 star!
I can agree with others that staff weren't the most friendly, but they were constantly hard at work and cleaning the tables and ensuring that seagulls weren't lurking around leftover food and disturbing patrons.
Recommend checking out Danny's !

The food was quick to deliver, but the quality was not good. Overpriced. Nice location with a view.
Greek salad - 70% iceberg lettuce
Fries - not a sprinkle of salt on any of the 4 dishes ordered.
Dory fish - decently soft and moist
Barramundi - overcooked and dry

Fairly nice place for takeaway food. We ended up getting a BBQ Platter which gave us a pretty wide range of different seafood, with salad, rice and chips. The seafood itself was really nice, so there are no real complaints there. The Greek … More

It's a self-service seafood restaurant with stunning view of Maroubra Beach. The menu options are quite limited and there is usually no wait staff on sight, even to clean the tables. Expect seagulls and pigeons to sit on your tables, they are very well behaved and do not snatch food from you. They place could be a tad bit cleaner though.

The restaurant is the worst ever. Nothing is fresh at all, even something must be fresh like “fresh crab” and “fresh prawn” are totally off with very bad smell. We can’t even eat a small piece of crab!!!! The price also is unreasonable with 2/3 is fried and fast food!!! Never come back and never recommend for anyone else!!!!!!!!

Lovely! Great food. I asked for an affogato which wasn't on the menu and it wasn't any trouble at all. Pricing was great and service was lovely. Just a nice peaceful unhurried lunch. Highly recommend

I couldn't eat my food.
So many flies and birds lol
I ordered fish & chips it was $13
The fish was not fresh. Because the smell was not good. And not crispy and they selling frozen food when I eat this a lot of water comes out from fish. also Didn't cook well
The counter is mess. The employees were also tired from the hot weather. But this is restaurant !!! Must be friendly to the customer with smile.
There are many tourists, so it seems that this restaurant can continue to operate.

Traditional seafood restaurant of high quality. Fantastic water and park views.
Moderately priced with a menu that has not changed much over the last 30 years. This type of traditional Australian cuisine is becoming a rarity nowadays. It needs to be sampled and enjoyed before it dies-out.
You can not get any fresher than live lobster or crab served from the tank.

The grilled octopus was not grilled but more like stewed cooked (in a pressure cooker) and the fish was just like steamed then a thin quick pan fried not even grilled. The chips were not even properly fried as crunchy chips. It was a waste of money and not worth your time to chew, swallow or full your stomach. It’s an insult to your stomach. Trust me. It’s worth your time to wait for the restaurant across the road then just go for this one for quick turn around but with huge regrets after. I think they have changed management! :(

We got the hot seafood platter, but both the hot and mixed cold+hot platters looked good. Generous portions so you will not leave hungry. The Platters are $120 which is on the pricier end of the scale. The seafood was cooked nicely, only the fish and rice was a little bit dry. A cheaper price point would make the platter more appealing.
I agree with other reviews, that the decor is dated and the restaurant needs a refresh. Redoing the floors, replacing the front counter and giving the place a fresh coat of paint would really make a difference. The location and view is fabulous and there is a good balance of indoor and outdoor seating.
